SF’s Thrive City Hosts Free Outdoor “Pride Comedy Night”

Thrive City invites everyone to this amazing free LGBTQ+ comedy festival at Chase Center on June 22nd!

Outside and out loud is when breakthrough acts shine their brightest. Thrive City is tearing the roof off live entertainment with our can’t miss comedy lineup geared toward mature audiences.

Pride Comedy Night presented by Accenture is a showcase featuring Sister Roma, Asia SF, Oakland To All and comedians including Irene Tu, Sureni Weerasekera, and Scott Capurro.

Enjoy food and drinks from the Dumpling Time and Cupcakin’ Bake Shop, stop by the National Center for Lesbian Rights and the San Francisco Aids Foundation booths, and a whole lot more.

Pride Comedy Night is hosted by Funcheap and HellaFunny, the team behind the Bay Area’s popular HellaSecret comedy shows.

Host:

  • Sister Roma – One of the most recognizable and well-known of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, Sister Roma has been the community grand marshal of Pride and been master of ceremonies for Folsom Street Fair and Easter in the Park, as well as being an activist and fundraisers for HIV/AIDS charities and countless LGBTQ+ causes. She’s fabulous!

Comedy:

  • Scott Capurro – A world-renowned comedian in the LGBTQ community, Scott Capurro is SUPER hilarious and a native San Franciscan!
  • Irene Tu – A nationally-touring comic, Irene Tu has performed at SF Sketchfest, the Portland Queer Comedy Festival, Cobb’s Comedy Club, Comedy Central’s Clusterfest and many more. She was named one of Vulture’s “Comedians You Should and Will Know” and singled out in the SF Chronicle as an “artist on the brink of fame.”
  • Sureni Weerasekera – A queer comic born in Sri Lanka, Sureni Weerasekera was raised in San Diego and now based in New York and currently taking over the clubs in NYC. Locally she’s performed at Cobbs, SF Sketchfest, the Desi Comedy Festival, Silicon Valley Pride and was awarded the “Diversity in Comedy Writing Fellowship” for her comedy writing.
