Thanks to Broke-Ass Stuart for sharing the sad news that The Wooden Nickel in the Mission has closed down permanently after 6+ years in business.

In late December the city was hit with one of the largest storms ever recorded which resulted in a massive street flood and The Wooden Nickel was hit hard. They opened a Go Fund Me Flood Relief fundraiser to help them with repairs and financial relief for their staff. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough to reopen. The flood damage opened a massive mold problem which would cost a hefty amount to repair.

We loved the Wooden Nickel, especially how they adapted during COVID to create a fun and vibrant outdoor space including an outdoor patio and outdoor pool table. Plus we LOVED their Korean chicken wings.

The Wooden Nickel will be having one “last hurrah” party on April 8, 2023 at Kilowatt. If you want to support one last time, the remaining farewell hoodies will be sold for $50.
