Suspected Arson Fire Damages SF’s “Spire” in The Presidio

Thanks to KPIX5 for reporting that the Famed Presidio Wooden ‘Spire’ Sculpture was damaged by an early Tuesday morning fire.

Tuesday, an early brush fire erupted among the cypress groves in San Francisco’s Presidio damaging renowned artist Andy Goldsworthy’s wooden 100-foot-tall ‘Spire’ sculpture.

According to park officials, “The ‘Spire’ stands, though badly damaged,” but no other structures were damaged and no injuries were reported. As of writing, the San Francisco Fire Department is still investigating the cause of the fire but there are multiple reports that arson is suspected
