This list is curated for Funcheap by Cooper Daly of SF Brunch Club, your home on the internet for your San Francisco bottomless brunch needs.  Updated September 2017

Even if you’re dining out on a budget, sometimes you’ve got a special occasion that deserves a little bit of a splurge. In San Francisco, though, a splurge can break the bank if you let it – a nice steak, a bottle of wine and some dessert, and suddenly you’ve spent $100 or more.

>> Here’s Funcheap’s guide to four of SF’s best shabu shabu placesEvery one of them has great food and drinks, plus fixed prices for all you can eat and drink.

That’s why I heartily recommend all-you-can-eat and drink shabu shabu, where you can indulge to your heart’s delight for a reasonable price. Plus you get endless beer and sake.

What is Shabu Shabu?
In case you’re not familiar, shabu shabu is a Japanese style of restaurant in which you are given a large pot of boiling broth and plates of raw meat and veggies. You then cook the food yourself in the broth – shabu shabu literally translates to “swish swish,” because that’s the motion you use to cook your meat.

Mums Cafe – $42.95 All You Can Eat and Drink
Mums is my favorite shabu spot in San Francisco for its high quality meat, fast service and fun environment. This is a great place to bring large groups; you’ll frequently see big parties of 10 and up having a great time and getting rowdy after a few drinks. You can also do all-you-can-eat (minus the drinks) for $26.95

Shabu House – $46 All You Can Eat and Drink
There are a few Shabu House locations in the Bay Area, but the flagship one is in the Inner Richmond. It’s the most expensive of this list, but the quality of the meat is top notch, so it’s definitely worth going if you live nearby.

  • Shabu Shabu Menu | 354 Clement St., San Francisco CA 94118 | Inner Richmond

Kufuya – $35 All You Can Eat and Drink
Kufuya is the cheapest all you can eat and drink shabu shabu in San Francisco, and they manage to keep their prices low without sacrificing quality. They’ve also got a special house sauce – I’m not sure what’s in it, but it’s unique and delicious.

  • 7001 Geary Street, San Francisco 94121 | Outer Richmond

Happy Shabu Shabu – $39.95 All You Can Eat and Drink
Happy Shabu Shabu is in Western Addition and is very reasonably priced for those of you who don’t want to go all the way out to the Outer Richmond to try Kufuya . Most of their tables sit a max of eight, so if you’ve got a very big group make sure to call way ahead.
