World’s Largest Fast Food Chain Opens First Bay Area Shop
The world’s largest fast food chain has officially landed in the Bay Area, and it’s probably not the one you’d guess.
China-based Mixue Ice Cream & Tea, which has grown to more than 53,000 locations worldwide, recently opened its first Bay Area shop in Sunnyvale. Known for bargain-priced soft serve and boba, the chain has expanded rapidly across Asia and began opening U.S. locations in late 2025.
The biggest draw is the prices. A vanilla soft serve cone costs just $1.59, while most milk teas start at $3.99, a fraction of what many Bay Area boba shops charge.
The menu includes soft serve, sundaes, milk teas, fruit teas, matcha drinks and customizable toppings like boba, coconut jelly and pudding.
A second Bay Area location is already planned for San Mateo, although an opening date has not yet been announced.
