Dream State returns to the Asian Art Museum to close out its AAPI Heritage Month programming with Works-in-Progress—an immersive, evolving experience that asks us to confront the myths we’ve been handed and imagine what dreaming can look like when we give ourselves permission to begin again.
Activating the museum into an immersive dreamscape, Works-in-Progress invites you to step into the in-between: the messy, raw, unpolished reality of identity, legacy, generational healing, and becoming. Works-in-Progress assembles 20+ rising Bay Area creatives, transforming the museum into a surreal landscape of film, sound, performance, and genre-bending visual art.
This experience will be surreal, nourishing, weird, challenging, and cathartic. For one day only.
About us:
Dream State is a movement and collective of 1st and 2nd culture kids dedicated to creating and protecting spaces for dreaming—especially in the face of widespread arts cuts, book bans, and the erasure of marginalized voices. Through immersive exhibitions, films, and artist development programs, we aim to expand perspectives and spark dialogue on how dreams shape across generations.
After selling out the Asian Art Museum for their first show in 2024, the collective returns to close out AAPI month 2025 bigger, even more immersive, with a message to send.
