Metropolis (2001)

A blend of the Tezuka manga and Fritz Lang’s proto-cyberpunk masterpiece, Metropolis details a futurescape of towering ziggurats, oppressed robots, and mad scientists. Can a private eye and his nephew teach the ultimate robot to love before she unleashes apocalypse? Will the city revolt against its de-facto ruler?

Directed by Rintaro and penned for the screen by Akira creator Katsuhiro Otomo.
