Hang on to your DNA, because the newest thing in design has actually been around for a few billion years—biology. Synthetic biology is the design and construction of new biological parts, devices, and systems, or the redesign of existing, natural biological systems for useful purposes like biofuels, vaccines, and bacteria-based building materials.
The night will include a talk by Shawn Douglas, PhD, assistant professor, UCSF Department of Cellular and Molecular Pharmacology, DIY strawberry DNA extraction, plus an open bar, food, activities, and access to exhibits.
