As the holidays approach everyone talks about cheer and good will towards others. That got East Bay Bike Party organizers thinking. How do we really give back?

On Friday, December 12th, come meet for a ride for our community. They will be riding around Oakland and giving care packages to the homeless. Care packages will include food and some basic necessities (gloves, socks, beanies, etc.)

Meet at Lake Merritt BART at 6:30 pm to help assemble care packages. Roll at 8 pm. This is NOT just a casual ride. They only want you to show up if you’re ready to help.

How can you help?

  1. Show up. Help us show that the bike community of the East Bay is a force for good.
  2. Ride with us and help us pass out care packages.
  3. Ride with East Bay Bike Party rules in mind.
  4. Donate: Bring food or clothing to pass out while we ride. Gloves, socks, beanies, etc. are all great things to give. (They last a long time and almost anyone can use them)
  5. Don’t stop here. Yeah, we’re going to do some good with this ride. But the most important thing is that we take these ideas to heart. Don’t look at the holidays as the one and only reason to give to your community. You have to want to give back.

Expect an easy, flat ride that will make frequent stops.

There’s been a lot of “drama” on the East Bay Bike Party page lately. A lot of this has been a direct response to some members being less than civil when riding through our communities. What better opportunity to show that we’re more than the sum and truly make at least a difference in the lives of the homeless?
