Visit artists’ studios, glimpse the creative process, and purchase work directly from local artists on its new format, now over three weekends in June during East Bay Open Studios.

The event is a great opportunity for artists and art collectors to connect one-on-one with one another in interesting and inspiring environments.

The Annual East Bay Open Studios Event has been an ongoing tradition in the San Francisco Bay Area for over 40 years. Open Studios are free self-guided tours of artist studios and exhibition spaces.

The art-loving, art-buying public enjoys one-on-one interactions with the artists and artisans and have the opportunity to learn about what inspires the artists, connect with the artists one-on-one and purchase art directly from the artists.

Artist venues can range from gallery settings, art studios, home studios, outdoor venues and other alternative exhibition spaces. Many artists serve refreshments, some give live demonstrations and some may even have live music.

Printed guidebooks and online artist directories guide visitors to the artist studios and exhibition spaces around the entire East Bay where the participating artists show. During the event, there are street signs directing you to artist locations.

Since 1979, East Bay Open Studios has been the largest art event in the East Bay, spanning over 14 cities and two counties, drawing over 60,000 studio visitors over two weekends in June every year.

East Bay Open Studios 2019

The New East Bay Open Studios 2019 is a free annual art event that brings the art-loving public together with artists in 16 different cities in the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area.

This year’s event begins on Saturday, June 1st with a festive Opening Celebration/Preview Exhibition at Oakland’s historic Scottish Rite Center and is followed by three inspiring weekends of self-guided tours of artist open studios and exhibition spaces. During the three open studio weekends, the public is invited into the studios and exhibition spaces of over 200 artists in 16 different cities throughout the East Bay. The Opening is by invitation. All are welcome.

The evening will feature over 75 of the participating artists who will be connecting with guests and showing samples of their work. Enjoy live music, preview artwork, meet the artists, and pick up copies of the printed guidebook in the beautiful setting of the Grand Ballroom of the Scottish Rite Center on the shores of Lake Merritt.
