2019 “Eat Real” Street Food Festival | Oakland

Eat Real combines a state fair, a street-food festival, and a block party to create a celebration of good food. At the Eat Real Festival, participants learn where food comes from, who grows it, and how to make it.

Eat Real Festival admission is free; plus all street food is affordable and incorporates delicious, regionally-sourced, and sustainably-produced ingredients.

*In past years, all items were $10 or less; we hope it’s similar in 2019.

2019 Eat Real Street Food Festival
September 21-22, 2019 | 11 am to 7 pm
Jack London Square, Oakland
FREE entry; food and drink available for purchase

2019 Entertainment Schedule TBA

Getting There:

  • By BART: Ride the BART to 12th Street. From there Jack London Square is a short 15 minute walk or a quick Lyft or Uber ride away.
  • By Train: The Capital Corridor Amtrak train runs from Sacramento to San Jose with a stop in Jack London Square that drops riders off right next to the Eat Real Festival.
  • By Ferry: Enjoy a beautiful, scenic view of the Bay by riding the ferry to Jack London Square.

Very limited parking will be available during the days of the festival. Check out some of Jack London Square’s parking options here. P4 and P5 will be closed during the festival.

Eat Real Festival works with street food trucks and carts serving a wide variety of food from tacos, BBQ, falafel, salads, sandwiches, curry, grilled meats and vegetables, noodles, fruit, ice cream, and hot dogs.

But eating is only part of the fun – they’ll show you how to make it and grow it. From cheese to kombucha, they’ll have demonstrations galore that highlight a DIY lifestyle. Plus there will be entertainment including artists showcasing dessert sculptures, juggling performances, circus workshops, giant lawn games, DJs and a vinyl record pop-up shop.

They also have space devoted to local food craft folks (cheese, charcuterie, pickles, jams, and more) and urban homesteading where you can learn what it takes to get in touch with your inner farmer/forager/brewer/baker/everything-maker.
