2020 Dance Hack Festival: Reality | SF
DanceHack is back for year six. This year’s showcase will feature never-before-seen performance, installations, and dance— all generated within 48 hours of transdisciplinary collaboration among Bay Area artists.
DanceHackSF is an annual San Francisco-based event that brings together performers and developers to inspire one another and experiment with emerging technologies, here in SF and around the World. DanceHack SF is an opportunity to spark unconventional applications of new tech tools and innovative dance material to create amazing live experiences.
This year DH takes place over two days: Day 1 is about hacking and experimentation, Day 2 features performances based on the previous day’s discoveries.
This unique performance showcase will present groundbreaking modes of expression sparked in the intersection of creative technology and dance. Each year DanceHack offers shockingly new experiences as performers incorporate tools like projection mapping, machine learning, virtual reality, and repurposed biometric data.
In the span of a weekend, about 80 participants will discover unconventional applications of new technological tools by collaborating with movement research and live performance. There will be 14 different projects illustrating the ideas generated between these collaborations showcased on the last day.
The purpose of the event is to foster cross-disciplinary partnerships and spark unconventional applications of new and existing tools.
