Free Theater: Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet | Oakland

See a free production of Romeo & Juliet, a tale of love’s triumph over violence and fear – Shakespeare distills this down to its archetypal essence. Kind of a big deal, right?

It’s happening at 8 pm on March 27 and 28, plus April 3, 4, 10 and 11. March 27 and 28 are benefit performances for The Omni Commons ($10 suggested, no one turned away).

“Out of the box? There is no box. We recycled the box. The box got disassembled and made into cardboard origami. Now this box has facets, this box has options. Now this box is human.”

This play is produced by The Free Theater, a group of professional actors eager to make really killer theater available to the public, regardless of income.

Wanna help make this happen? They’ve got an indiegogo going on.
