Hack4Congress: Techies & Thinkers Fix Congress | SF

#Hack4Congress is bringing together political scientists, technologists, designers, lawyers, organizational psychologists, and lawmakers to foster new digital tools, policy proposals and other innovations to address the growing dysfunction in Congress at San Francisco’s Code for America headquarters from 9 am to 4 pm on March 21-22, 2015.

Free, but an RSVP is required to participate.

Participants will break out into teams to work on innovatie ideas, both technical and non-technical.

Hack4Congress San Francisco Schedule

Friday March 20th: Opening Reception and Panel at SPUR (654 Mission St, SF), hosted by the Harvard Ash Center.

Saturday March 21st: Orientation and Hackathon Day 1 (8am-5pm)

  • 8am-8:30am: Check-in/Registration
  • 8am-9am: Breakfast Buffet
  • 8:45am-9am: Opening Remarks
  • 9am-10am: Orientation

    • Introduce Problems/Projects
    • Q&A
    • Form Teams
  • 10am-12:30pm: Hackathon Begins
  • 12:30pm-1pm: Lunch
  • 1pm-4pm- Hackathon Continues
  • 4pm-5pm- Wrap up Day 1

Sunday March 22nd: Hackathon Day 2, Project Presentations

  • 8am-9am: Breakfast Buffet
  • 9am-12:00pm: Hackathon Continues
  • 12:00pm-1:00pm: Lunch
  • 1:00pm-1:30pm: Presentation Preparation
  • 2pm-4pm: Project Presentations & Final Selection

Each of the three events (in Cambridge, San Francisco, and Washington DC), concludes with presentations and the selection of the best project. Winners will travel to DC in May, to present their ideas to a panel of Members of Congress and civic innovators. For more information on the hackathon, how to participate and FAQ’s, check out the Hackpad.
