2015 Life Art Science Tech (LAST) Festival | Stanford

The LAST (Life Art Science Technology) Festival is a weekend-long interdisciplinary event consisting of the Art Expo featuring a dozen digital interactive art installations, the Saturday-only “Engineering the Future” symposium on the state of the sciences that are shaping the 21st century, and the Sunday-only “Homo Digitalis” symposium with panels and talks on the impact that digital media are having on the human mind.

2015 LAST Festival Schedule:

Friday, October 16 at Stanford’s Cubberley Auditorium,

  • 6-10 pm: Art Expo and Performances
    The “expo” features a dozen interactive digital installations that break the “Do not touch!” taboo of the traditional museum and are inspired by the high-tech world of the 21st century. Plus catch adventurous and creative performances by sound and dance artists.

Saturday, October 17 at Stanford’s Cubberley Auditorium

  • 1-5 pm: “Engineering the Future” Symposium – including Drew Endy (Synthetic Biology at Stanford), Peter Norvig (Director of Research at Google) on Artificial Intelligence, Jennifer Dionne (Nanotech at Stanford), Bruno Olshausen (Neuroscience at UC Berkeley) and Chris McKay (Space Exploration at NASA)
  • 1 pm – 10pm: Art Expo and Performances

Sunday, October 18, Li Ka Shing Room 101-102,

  • 1-4 pm: “Homo Digitalis” Symposium – including Sarah Granger (Author and Serial Entrepreneur), Michael Sturtz (Stanford’s Creative Ignition Lab), Melania Swan (New School of NY) and a panel on “Robots and People”.
