2019 marks 50 years since Berkeley’s “Sixties” era climaxed in the tumultuous events of 1969 and the creation of People’s Park. The conversation and debate surrounding People’s Park remains as relevant as ever today with UC Berkeley planning to develop the property.

The Berkeley Historical Society’s new exhibit examines the creation, displacement, return, and continuation of the People’s Park movement, including its impact on the local community and nation.

Join us on Sunday, April 7th, for the opening of the new exhibit. At 2:00 there will be a short annual membership meeting with recognition of volunteers and election of board members for the coming year. Immediately following, Steven Finacom, curator of the new exhibit, will give a talk about People’s Park.
