Explore the science behind earthquakes and learn how families can prepare for an emergency at LP25 Interactive: Loma Prieta Earthquake 25th Anniversary Commemoration at the Exploratorium which will offer free admission from 4-7 pm on Friday, October 17, 2014.

Visit an earthquake simulator and experience what happens when a large earthquake occurs, learn how to use a fire extinguisher, and find out more about earthquake safety, fire safety and other emergency preparedness practices. More than 20 organizations will be featured at the event from noon to 7 pm (free admission applies only from 4-7 pm).

The day culminates in a Taste of Preparedness (TOP) Chef Cook-Off hosted by the Salvation Army from 5:30-6:30 pm, with five teams competing to create a tasty meal using non-perishable ingredients.
