Explore Golden Gate Park with Local Buddhist Monks & Learn Meditation

Bring your friends and family—no RSVP needed for additional guests.

Looking for a meaningful way to spend a Sunday? Golden Gate Park is a beautiful spot for a peaceful afternoon, and we invite you to join us for a unique experience with local Buddhist monks.

What to Expect: Meet us at the Chain of Lakes Meadow Parking Lot and embark on a mindful journey with Buddhist monks from the Dharma Treasury Temple. We’ll walk from the parking lot to the de Young Museum, covering a scenic 2-mile route filled with casual conversation and reflection. During the walk, we’ll find a serene spot for sitting meditation or gather at the de Young Café (Terrace) for snacks and meditation. We can decide together where to practice meditation.

  • Date: Sunday, September 15 at 4 pm
  • Meeting Point: Chain of Lakes Meadow Parking Lot
  • Hiking Distance: 4 miles total (about 2 hours + meditation session)
  • Dog-Friendly: Dogs are welcome, and they are fine for meditation!

Hike and Meditation

Explore Golden Gate Park with monks from Dharma Treasury Temple, a branch of Bodhi Light International (BLI). Whether you’re new to meditation or an experienced practitioner, our trained teachers will help you build a solid foundation and guide you through challenges. American Chan meditation emphasizes self-improvement and personal growth in all areas of life. With dedication, you’ll deepen your Samadhi (concentration) and notice improvements in mental and physical health, productivity, creativity, relationships, and problem-solving skills.

Engage with Our Monks

Feel free to ask questions and engage in casual conversations about spiritual practices and meditation with our local Buddhist monks. They are open to discussing their practices and experiences.
