“Families Belong Together” Day of Action
“Donald Trump and his administration are cruelly separating children from their families. But we won’t allow it to continue.”
On June 30, there will be a rally in Washington, D.C., and around the country to tell Donald Trump and his administration to stop separating kids from their parents.
Trump and his administration have been systematically criminalizing immigration and immigrants, from revoking Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) to ramping up intimidating ICE tactics.
The executive order that Donald Trump signed recently is not a solution to the crisis created by his administration; it keeps kids imprisoned indefinitely, and doesn’t reunite thousands of separated families. But it does show the administration is reacting to public pressure, so people against the order will continue to increase the pressure for justice at hundreds of events on Saturday, June 30.
UPDATE: June 27, 2018, 10:00 AM ET
A federal judge ruled against Trump’s family separation policy—but we know the administration will fight back. We have momentum and we cannot slow down now since the the court ruling along isn’t enough and could be overturned. Our mobilization, in over 600 locations around the country and still growing, is critical to showing the widespread public demand for just immigration policies—because families belong together … and free!Join the rally to send a clear message to Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress,”Families Belong Together!”
The largest Bay Area event will take place in San Francisco with a march from Dolores Park leading to a rally in Civic Center.
Other Families Belong Together events around the Greater Bay Area include:
Alameda, Berkeley, Concord, Dublin, Fairfax, Fremont, Healdsburg, Livermore, Morgan Hill, Mountain View, Oakland, Palo Alto, Petaluma, Piedmont, Pittsburg, Pleasanton, Redwood City, Richmond, Sacramento, San Francisco, San Jose, San Leandro, Santa Cruz, Santa Rosa, Sebastopol, Sonoma, Stockton, Tracy, Vacaville, and Vallejo.
Or search by zipcode to find an event near you.
Family separation is another Trump-created crisis. This is not at all required under current law — despite the lies coming out of Trump’s mouth — and Trump could put an end to this with a phone call. And like so many other Trump-created crises, Republicans in Congress are letting it happen. Some may have expressed concerns about the policy, but none have done anything about it. That’s where you come in.Be a part of Berkeley mobilization and rally as part of a national day of action (like the airport protests) in support of keeping families together.Directions: The Old City Hall Steps are on Martin Luther King Way between Center St. and Allston Way in Berkeley
