Event Details

Join us when Justine Gubar, former ESPN producer, and sports entrepreneur Josh McHugh discuss Justine’s new book Fanaticus.

Why do fans identify so heavily with teams? Why do fans get so angry and sometimes resort to violence? What can be done when rioting erupts? Have there been any successful strategies for stemming the violence?

By giving historical, social, and psychological perspective, the book Fanaticus discusses all of this and is useful for players, parents, fans, and anyone who is interested in what drives human behavior and causes seemingly unremarkable people to abandon societal norms and act out in unimaginable ways.

A book sale by Readers Books follows the event.
