Flower Piano: 12 Hidden Pianos in Golden Gate Park

Sunset Piano, in partnership with San Francisco Botanical Garden, will once again bring over a dozen pianos to the spectacular 55 acre Botanical Garden in Golden Gate Park for the fourth incarnation of the interactive music festival, Flower Piano.

Flower Piano is free to SF residents with ID, and only $9 (the regular Garden entry fee) for anyone else.

For twelve days only, July 11-22, 2019, pianos are placed in beautiful garden settings for anyone to play, with performances by brilliant local musicians scheduled on weekends.

The annual twelve-day-long Flower Piano is one of the Bay Area’s most highly anticipated musical events of the summer and celebrates its fifth year at the Garden with a special anniversary edition.

Featuring new opportunities for the public to play, more performances by professional musicians, special events for families including the new evening-time Flower Piano at Sunset, a community sing-along, free piano lessons, and three evenings of Flower Piano at Night, a special after dark event with food trucks and outdoor bars.

A new, family-friendly addition to the Flower Piano special event lineup. Tickets are $40 for adults. Special ticket required. Children 12 and under are free.

Rabbit Hole Theater is back with another whimsical scavenger hunt through the Garden (10-11am) ending in song and movement for your little fairy, pirate, or wizard (11-11:30am). Scavenger hunt will launch from the Main Gate with a clue card to help young children find hidden characters in nearby gardens.

For the third year, Oakland School for the Arts incredible youth return to take the stage at Flower Piano. Support young, emerging musicians as most of them experience playing in their first outdoor venue.

2 pm – 5 pm: Fountain Plaza – Awesome Orchestra Collective – David Möschler, Conductor

A full symphony orchestra that will work through and perform two major piano concertos. Awesöme Orchestra strives to make orchestra adventures accessible to everyone.

The SFJAZZ High School All-Stars program is a pre-professional training program for current Bay Area high school age jazz musicians. Comprised of two ensembles – the Big Band and the Combo – the All-Stars rehearse and perform throughout the school year at the SFJAZZ Center, receive mentorship and clinics with leading jazz professionals, record a professional studio album, and appear at prestigious music festivals and competitions.

Come to the Flower Piano Sing-Along in Golden Gate Park for crowd-pleasing and uplifting music from the ’60s and ’70s led by Community Music Center faculty members Maestro and Nola Curtis. The Sing-Along features favorites from soul, rock, and folk music and will certainly bring a smile to your face.
