Freespace Pop-Up Community Center

Freespace is a pop-up community center focused on hacking the civic experience. It is hosted in a 14,000 sqft warehouse in S0Ma, San Francisco, envisioned and implemented entirely by you.

Freespace was originally just a one month project, but it was extended to two months thanks to successful Indiegogo campaign. They’re now open periodically (check their schedule). They host a wide array of events and projects like classes, music, art, silent discos, yoga, a free bikeshare, community engagement and field trips, and more than a few silly costumes.

City of God (Ceudad de Deus) is a wonderful and shocking film that will take us into the heartbreaking reality of children in the Favelas of Brazil.

We will follow the lives of two kids. One becomes a photographer, the other a drug dealer. A story that sadly repeats itself in the major cities of Latin America and it’s still one of the biggest issues that keep the region on top of the violence rankings worldwide.

Join us to watch and discuss this Latin American masterpiece and turn this Wednesday evening into much more than another Wednesday night.
