Hot 9 is a San Francisco based quintet specializing in upbeat, groove-heavy funk and afro beat. They perform a free concert in the The Chapel bar.

The group drives its deep-pocket, stripped-down grooves with punchy brass and intricate guitar phrases, while locking it in with funk and world rhythms. The result is a combination of polished, tight, original arrangements accentuated by improvised solos and frequent guest vocals from Bay Area vocalists and MCs. The influence of artists such as Maceo Parker, Trombone Shorty, Tower of Power, Jamiroquai, Soulive and Budos Band can all be heard in the groups polished original sound.
