Led by John Calloway, this instrumental and vocal ensemble is unique in its approach in that it organically creates its own new and exciting arrangements each semester. The mission of the ensemble is to expose the larger listening audiences of the Bay Area to the richness of Cuban music that has so influenced American music since the 19th century.

6/15 – Andy y su Orquesta Callao is a 10 member salsa music groups based in the SF Bay Area. The group was founded in 2004 by Andy Gutierrez, a singer from Peru who performed for Band Kache and Kalichin before starting his own group.

7/20 – Orquesta Dharma
Grammy-winning trombonist Jamie Dubberly formed Orquesta Dharma in 2008 originally as a studio project to record some original afro-cuban jazz material he had written and arranged. Since then the group has released two critically successful albums, and has performed live to enthusiastic audiences all over the California Bay Area, and central California.

8/17 – Josh Jones Latin Ensemble
Drummer & Percussionist Josh Jones is internationally recognized from his touring with such jazz greats as Don Cherry, Steve Coleman, Omar Sosa, and Peter Apfelbaum. In a time of modern dance music Los Boleros stays true to the traditional Cuban music styles of an era when music was golden. Traditional salsa, Cuban music,Cuban son, cumbia, merengue, cha cha, danzon, vals (waltz) and yes of course… bolero. Imagine dinner with Ricky Ricardo’s Tropicana Havana then dancing… at the Buena Vista Social Club.
