WHERE
de Young Museum (Golden Gate Park), 50 Hagiwara Tea Garden Drive, San Francisco
These two art shows take place in the de Young museum’s iconic Observation Tower and its atrium – Wilsey court.

WHY
Local artists Ranu Mukherjee and Anthony Discenza with award winning Sound studio Skywalker Sound have created two new installations for the de Young.

A Bright Stage transforms the de Young’s atrium into an imaginary Banyan Tree grove, an immersive environment in this freely accessible public meeting space and adds a new cultural perspective to the art collections held at the de Young. July 14, 2018–January 20, 2019

The Companions: Sounds for a Lost Screenplay, the first project in the de Young Museum’s iconic observation Tower, provides a cinematic audio environment – a movie without visuals – which ties into the breathtaking views from the Tower. The project features sounds from several iconic films set in San Francisco. June 17–September 4, 2018

Ticket Information
The projects are located in the free public spaces in the de Young and programming will be free for all visitors. (Please note this does not include admission into the de Young’s galleries
