From trick or treating to celebrating, there’s inexpensive Halloween fun to be found in the Bay Area.

This October 31st you’ll find plenty of free or low cost Halloween activities in the Bay Area that offer a kid-friendly good time. Hauntmistress, of hauntedbay.com has curated a list of family-friendly activities for Halloween night 2010 to help you get the ghoulish mood and plan your hallows eve.

Yerba Buena Gardens Halloween Costume Walk (SF)
Annual Halloween Costume Walk featuring interactive performances and games for kids, followed by the popular Costume Walk and trick or treating.

The Haunted Presidio (SF)
Join a ranger- and docent-led tour and learn about the mysteries and unexplained events of the Presidio’s 200-year history. Make your reservations by calling (415) 561-4323.

Fear Oaks (SF)
The Young People’s Teen Musical Theatre Company has created 800 square feet of scary haunted fun for adults and older kids. They also put on Thriller performances.

Ghostly Gate Fields (Berkeley)
Golden Gate Fields celebrates Halloween with a haunted house, pumpkin patch, face painters, pony rides, balloon artists, bounce houses, and more. Plus, kids will receive a bag of goodies while supplies last. It’s also dollar day, so it’s $1 each for parking, soda, beer, hot dogs, and a program.

Halloween on Solano Avenue (Albany)
Enter the costume contest and trick or treat at participating businesses.

Trick or Treat at the SPCA Oakland
Join the SPCA Oakland Adoption Center for a scavenger hunt, time to meet some animals, fun activities, and of course – candy! Costumes encouraged.

Pardee Home Halloween Gala (Oakland)
The Pardee Home Museum is hosting its annual Halloween Gala at the Mansion. The fun includes a book signing by Karen Zimmerman, author of Ghost Stories and Legends of Alameda, Berkeley and Oakland; magician Mike Della Penna; refreshments; crafts; games; pumpkin decorating; pinata busting; a costume contest; mask making; and more.

Mall Trick or Treating
Various malls in the Bay Area offer free trick or treating at participating stores, and some even have activities for the kids too. Check out Serramonte Center in Daly City, Hillsdale Mall in San Mateo, downtown Pleasant Hill, the Fremont Hub, Sunvalley Mall in Concord, and Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek.

Sausalito Halloween Parade and Trick or Treat Lane
Kids are invited to put on their costume and march to Robin Sweeny Park for treats and Halloween fun, including a haunted house.
