Event Details

The de Young Museum hosts a ton of free events in its public spaces on Friday nights including tonight’s free concert by Parisian chanteuse Jessica Fichot. But if French music ne pas your thing, come for a free lecture on French writers of 19th century, a screenprinting workshop, a holiday artisan fair and more.

Live music by Parisian chanteuse Jessica Fichot
6:30–8:30 p.m.
Wilsey Court

L.A.-based chanteuse, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Jessica Fichot is a lot like her hometown of Paris: French at heart, but with a soul that is truly international. Drawing from her multiethnic French/Chinese/American upbringing, her music fuses styles and languages, taking the listener on a twisting journey out of the French chanson tradition, into the lands of gypsy jazz, Chinese, and Latin American folk music, and into the wilderness of her imagination. Listen to samplings of Jessica Fichot’s music.

Lecture: “From Realism to Symbolism:  French Writers at the Time of Impressionism”
7:00–7:30 p.m.

Koret Auditorium
Renée Morel teaches French and Linguistics at City College of San Francisco, where she also conducts the Café Musée. She lectures regularly on art, aesthetics, history, and literature at various institutions in the Bay Area and at the Latitude Cultural Center in France.

Tableaux Vivants
6:00–8:30 p.m.
Piazzoni Murals Room
Meet artists Berthe Morisot (Peggy Gyulai) and Vincent van Gogh (Jeremy Sutton).

Art making for all ages with Mademoiselle Kim

Weave together Impressionist images to create a wacky work of art.

Screenprinting with artist-in-residence Txutxo Perez
6:00–8:45 p.m.
Artist Studio/Kimball Education Gallery

Visit November artist-in-residence Txutxo Perez and his project Revolution U, commemorating the Mexican Revolution and 100 years in the Mission. Perez leads a screenprinting demonstration and workshop in the studio.
