New Calflora Tools: plants in your garden & in the wild

Native plant professionals, gardeners, and enthusiasts! Join Calflora’s Executive Director Cynthia Powell on Thursday September 11. Calflora is a nonprofit plant database that aggregates millions of plant observations across the state from hundreds of sources. These sources include CCH2 (California Consortium of Herbaria plant specimens), iNaturalist, state parks, federal parks, and plant checklists from around the state. You will learn about planning your garden / restoration area, IDing plants you see in the wild, plant range algorithms, and how to better use this incredible resource to learn more about your regional plants.

Cynthia’s presentation will be available in person and online; Cynthia will be in person and would love to meet you at the Baylands Community Center.

Quiz: which plant’s distribution is reflected in this map, and why are two areas circled? Answer both quiz questions correctly in person on September 11 to win a prize.
