The Berkeley Underground Film Society is an all ages club for collectors, researchers, and film enthusiasts in the East Bay and San Francisco area. Their goal is to review and share a selective film history of movies on film. Every Sunday, they’ll screen buried, rarely projected, or otherwise obscure 8mm, Super 8, and 16mm prints in our collection.
On August 12, 2012, you can enjoy a screening of Midnight Cowboy for free.
Midnight Cowboy (1969)
Texas greenhorn Joe Buck arrives in New York for the first time. Preening himself as a real ‘hustler’, he finds that he is the one getting ‘hustled’ until he teams up with a down-and-out but resilient outcast named Ratso Rizzo. The initial ‘country cousin meets city cousin’ relationship deepens. In their efforts to bilk a hostile world rebuffing them at every turn, this unlikely pair progress from partners in shady business to comrades. Each has found his first real friend.16mm uncut print, parental discretion advised.
