Noise Pop Free Concert Lineup
Tuesday, February 21, 2012

5:30 SorryEverAfter’s not-so-dark, somewhat spacious music combines gritty, feedback-laden guitars, a locomotive back beat, and a sweet layer of vocal harmonies. The quartet’s hypnotic, blissedoutmix of succinct and heartfelt songs blast with the heat of the sun on even the darkest of days. Look for the new Tim Green produced record sometime in 2012.

6:15 If you pick up a copy of Swiftumz’s (a.k.a. Chris McVicker’s) LP, Don’t Trip (Holy Mountain), you’ll notice a purple sticker that says “CALL ME,” and lists his phone number. Weird, yes, but it’s the same endearing candor that lights up McVicker’s darling lo-fi pop tunes. His retro guitar hooks and fragile, imperfect voice remind many of Girls’ Chris Owens, but McVicker is truly one of a kind and a San Francisco legend.

7:00 Permanent Collection is the solo moniker of San Francisco dweller Jason Hendardy, now with a backing band, drawing on a combined veneration of reverb, noise, and layered sound. Permanent Collection is a pop-obsessed endeavor inspired by such genres of post-punk, shoegaze, and psych. And it kicks major ass.
