Free Night Walking Tour of Chinatown Alleyways + North Beach (SF)
San Francisco Gragon Gate | Bush Street &, Grant Ave, San Francisco, CA 94108
Event Details
After dark, Chinatown quiets down. That’s when this walk starts.
It’s a free 90-minute evening tour that begins at the Dragon Gate and works up through Chinatown’s back alleys to the point where the neighbourhood turns into North Beach. Along the way: the old tong buildings on Waverly Place, the gambling alleyways, a Bruce Lee mural, Jack Kerouac Alley and City Lights Bookstore. It ends at Golden Boy Pizza.
Two neighbourhoods pressed up against each other for more than a century, and the seam between them is the most interesting part of either.
The tour is free in the real sense — no ticket, nothing paid up front. At the end you decide what it was worth, and there’s no obligation.
Guided in English. Meets at the Dragon Gate, corner of Bush Street and Grant Avenue.
