Free Range Fridays: Honky Tonk Live Music Night | Richmond Dist.

Free Range Fridays features live, acoustic music by some of the Bay Area’s finest Americana performers. The series is hosted by Jeanie and Chuck Poling, longtime contributors to the local folk/country/bluegrass scene. Free Range Fridays attracts many great artists who play for the sheer joy of sharing their music with a crowd that really appreciates it. Plus, they’ve had some awesome special guests show up – no promises, but rumor has it that past cameos include Jimmie Dale Gilmore (true) and Robert Plant (false, but we love how rumors we started get back to us as fact).

It’s not just a show, it’s a pocket festival that will pull heartstrings, induce belly laughter, and get that brain thinkin’ mighty powerful thoughts. All FRF shows are free and are part of their continuing effort to keep alive San Francisco’s tradition of coffeehouse entertainment. Shows are presented roughly every three months.

Gayle Lynn and Her Hired Hands | Free Range Fridays: Honky Tonk Live Music Night | Richmond Dist.

Going acoustic is all the rage. It’s like fixed gear bicycles and manual typewriters. How ironic. And when they say acoustic, they mean acoustic: no pickups, no microphones, no amps, and no PA. Nothing but wires and wood and human voices making some of the best Americana music you’ll hear in the United States of Americana.

February 21, 2014 Performers:

Featured artist Gayle Lynn and Her Hired Hands

Gayle is an accomplished singer and songwriter. Originally from Kentucky, Gayle followed her dream to San Francisco. Gayle Lynn sings “bourbon-soaked originals for the soul” that make you think, make you laugh, make you sigh, and just make you glad you know Gayle.

Sylvie Simmons

Sylvie has been writing for rock and roll publications since Keith Moon roamed the earth and most recently wrote the best-selling biography about Leonard Cohen titled I’m Your Man.

Sylvie’s talents, however, are not limited to the pen. Armed with her mighty ukulele, she’ll entertain with song and humor and perhaps even share some juicy tidbits from her treasure trove of music industry gossip.
