Short Films & Live Music | Peralta Junction Pop-Up Creative Commons | Oakland

Peralta Junction will be screening a bunch of short films from (mainly) local filmmakers.

The Picnic is an Oakland-made silent movie directed by Allen White and produced by Bree Hylkema. (25 min.)
The cast includes many local artists and performers and features an original score by Dan Cantrell.
“This is a loving, authentically-styled tribute to the silent two-reelers of the 1920s, specifically the works of Keaton and Sennett, and features an all-original score and historically accurate locations in Northern California.”

Fine Dining (7+ min.)
Dean Mermell wrote, directed, and edited it (He also wrote and played the piano score)
Produced by Dana Castro for Storyfarm
Camera by Pablo 2000 (Paul Andresen)
“A homeless waif stumbles upon a parallel hobo universe, an exagerated world that mirrors our own, with surrealistic accuracy. Fine Dining is built on an original piano score, and shot on 35mm color film with an antique, hand-cranked camera. No electricity was used in its production.”

Dan Cantrell and players will open the evening with a live performance.

Also screening:

  • The Haunting of Yarmouth Port Hall by Khris Brown & John Daniel
  • And This Forest Will be a Desert by C & A Projects
  • Stairway to Paradise by Daniel Jacob & Yolande Sukal
  • Morgenrot by Jeff Desom
  • Requiem for Fat Ernie by Joe Rosato & Mark Oltz
  • My First Date pixilation animation from Slovakia
