Do It Live Productions stages Sam Shepard’s jazz-riddled absurdist farce, Suicide in B Flat and will offer free performances during its 4-day run at Boxcar.
Two detectives arrive at the scene of the crime to reconstruct the suicide of jazz-man Niles. They’re already in over their heads when the room starts to fill with musicians, dead-set on rehearsing with Niles.
DO IT LIVE’S production embraces this chaos with the help of Grayson Converse, accomplished jazz pianist making his theatrical debut by improvising the play’s score each night. The grueling physicality of the detectives set to jazz is one of the many juxtapositions this production adds to Shepard’s apoplectic and epileptic landscape of detectives and jazz musicians.
Pay-what-you-can shows will run at Boxcar Theatre from March 13-16, 2012 at 8pm and tickets are required.
