An Intimate Concert Setting in the Mission
Community Music Center’s beautifully renovated concert hall features hardwood floors and a proscenium stage, with a garden courtyard connecting the campus’s two historic buildings.

From the mechanical energy of Jinjoo Choi’s Cogwork Rhapsody to the dreamlike Evoke Stardust by Brady Wolff, the program travels through ragtime, rhythm, fragments, landscapes, suites, and experimental textures. Other works explore everything from frozen motion and flickering sounds to rain, light, water, and the pulse of a city.

E4TT emerita pianist extraordinaire Dale Tsang opens the E4TT’s 19th season with a program of works selected from E4TT’s 2026 Call for Scores for solo piano, bringing 13 winning composers and 13 distinct musical perspectives to the piano.

For this year’s Call for Scores–E4TT’s third for solo piano–the group received 155 scores from 90 composers hailing from 20 countries (Albania, Argentina, Australia, Austria, China, Cuba, Iran, Italy, Japan, Korea, Lebanon, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Puerto Rico, South Korea, Taiwan, United States) and 19 U.S. states, with the composers ranging from students to established composers to professionals in non-musical fields. As ever, the quality and variety of the submissions made choosing the winners challenging.

The works chosen are:
Jinjoo Choi: “Cogwork Rhapsody”
Gilad Cohen: “Pulse”
Michael Coleman: Seville Rag
Andrew Davis: “Album Leaves – III. Pulse Train”
Xinyuan Deng: “Autumn Landscape”
Isaiah Diaz-Lopez:”Magenta – The First to Dream
Arturo Fernandez: “Pedro’s Come Home Suite – Conga en forma di Corrente”
Matthew Lam: “Fragments of Rain”
Joao Oliveira: “ff – I. Frozen Fred”
Luca Pasquini: “Dispositions – 1. Leggiero, flickering”
Josh Rodriguez: “LUZ ENTRE AGUAS – II. Estancia”
Louis Rosen: “ACT ONE SUITE – 1. Opening – The City” and “3. Traveling Music”
Brady Wolff: “Evoke Stardust”

Ensemble for These Times focuses on 20th and 21st century music that is relevant, engaging, original, and compelling, music that resonates today and will speak to tomorrow. E4TT strongly believes in the power of artistic beauty, intelligence, wit, lyricism, and irony to create a deep understanding of our times and the human condition. Women creators are an ongoing primary focus.
