Event Details

Friday Nights at the de Young offers a variety of interdisciplinary arts programs, including live music, poetry, films, dance, tours, talks and more. Season Eight is every Friday night from March 30 – November 23, 2012.

This weekly after-hours art “happening” changes every week, but typically includes a mix of live music, dance performances, film screenings, panel discussions, lectures, artist demonstrations, special performances, hands-on art activities and more. Plus the observation tower is open until 8:15pm.

May 11, 2012 – Golden Gate’s Swingin’ 75th-Birthday Bash

  • 6:00–6:30 p.m.
    Kick off this fabulous Golden Gate birthday party with dance hostess Cynthia Glinka and her easy-as-pie dance lessons.
  • 6:30–7:15 and 7:45-8:30 p.m.
    Live music of the era performed by The Royal Society Jazz Orchestra
  • 7pm – Koret Auditorium
    75 Years Old! The Golden Gate Bridge and the Extraordinary City it Enhances – Lecture by Kay Payne, FAMSF docent

Walk in and experience all public programs for free. But to view the permanent collection or special exhibitions, admission tickets are required.
