Future of Us Festival 2026: 50+ Free Events in SF (July 4-12)

Future of Us Festival | July 4–12, 2026 | San Francisco

San Francisco is celebrating the nation’s 250th anniversary with Future of Us, a first-of-its-kind 10-day citywide civic festival running July 4–12, 2026. More than 30 Future Culture Fellows, civic leaders, artists, educators, and community builders from across San Francisco’s neighborhoods, are leading 50+ free community-designed activations across all ten of the city’s Supervisorial Districts. Every activation is rooted in the lived experience and future visions of the people who call this city home.

Rather than top-down programming, each Fellow developed their activation based on their own neighborhood knowledge, expertise, and imagination. Festival highlights include:

  • Street dance classes and a DJ dance party hosted by dancer and community builder Tricia Choi across four evenings in July
  • Food for Thought, a community co-created dinner at the India Basin Food Pavilion blending Indonesian and Southern Soul Food to celebrate the Bayview’s rich food history, produced by Dakota Pekerti of Kamu Siapa Kitchen
  • Neighborhood scavenger hunts, public art, data literacy workshops, a candlelit flower labyrinth, and neighborhood crawls exploring the question: who is this city built for?

Activations will take place at venues across the city including SFMOMA, Gray Area, the Southeast Community Center in Bayview, the Miraloma Park Improvement Club, Fort Mason, and neighborhood parks and third spaces citywide. All events are free and open to the public. Full program details, Fellow bios, and registration links are available at future-of-us.com.
