SF’s Yerba Buena Gardens Festival 2026
The 2026 Yerba Buena Gardens Festival hosts a full lineup of free outdoor music, theater, circus, dance, poetry, and children’s programs. The Festival opens on Saturday, May 9, 2026 with Hermán Olivera y Orquesta Taíno to kick off its 26th season. The Festival features over 100 free performances from May to November in Downtown San Francisco.
The most celebrated gamelan ensemble outside of Bali, Gamelan Sekar Jaya returns to Yerba Buena Gardens Festival with a breathtaking mix of traditional and contemporary music and dance works. Under the direction of internationally renowned gamelan composer and performer I Dewa Putu Berata and dance master I Made Suteja, the 50-member Bay Area company presents a program showcasing three different gamelan ensembles. The intricate and sinuous melodies of gender wayang features a quartet of bronze and bamboo metallophones. The bronze gong kebyar gamelan creates thrilling interlocking melodies, while Bali’s energetic bamboo gamelan jegog creates a jubilant sound with marimbas up to 10 feet long. The program also features exciting dance works highlighting masked dance topeng performed by renowned topeng master Suteja.
