Event Details

Guest curated by Root Division’s 2017 Exhibitions Fellow, Lauren Etchells, “Back to the Garden” examines the ways in which artists create order, find inspiration, and craft identity through the natural sublime. From houseplants, to well-manicured gardens, and neighborhood parks, the natural world is consciously interwoven into the daily lives.

Featuring work by 16 Bay Area artists, this exhibition explores the motivations and methods by which human beings shape the natural world into a reflection of their identity, societal values, and projected ideals.

“Back to the Garden” is presented in conjunction with Root Division’s annual culinary fundraiser, “Taste”, an evening of artfully inspired food and drink made onsite. Bay Area chefs and mixologists will be drawing inspiration from this year’s theme, shaping nature’s bounty into delicious bites and libations alongside the exhibition
