Safe Words is San Francisco’s longest-running queer comedy showcase, on a mission to accelerate the careers of the queer voices we platform. Come early, stay late.

Doors 7:00 PM · Show 7:30 PM  |  21+  |  ♿ Accessible venue

Kristee Ono

(they/them) Queer · Japanese

A little dark, a little weird, a lot of burritos. Kristee Ono is a San Francisco based stand up comedian exploring depression and food obsession with an unwarranted optimism entertaining enough that no one has asked her to stop as of yet. She is a host and co-creator of KALW Into The Fold, an exploration of burritos and burrito people. She is the co-host of Mental Health Comedy Hour, where comedians use humor to destigmatize mental illness.

Jonas Castillo

(he/him) Bisexual · Filipino

Local to San Francisco to an extreme degree, Jonas Castillo is a standup comedian who uses his off-beat upbringing and sing-song way of speaking to captivate audiences on stage. He has performed at SF Punchline, Rooster T Feathers, and the Filipino Comedy Festival. Along with performing, he produces standup shows all across the Bay Area with Laughs w/ Benefits, Tumen Laughs, and Standup Power Hour. You won’t want to miss out on this young comic on the rise!

Nina Nguyen

(she) Queer, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender · Vietnamese

Nina is a comic from Houston TX pouring her heart out on stage but then quickly detouring into silliness. She was a finalist on StandupNBC, toured colleges through NACA and a writer for CBS Diversity Showcase. She recently performed at Limestone Comedy Festival, SFSketchfest, Bergamot Comedy Fest and can be seen at clubs and festivals all over – but mostly in Los Angeles where she lives with her wife and cat.

Yi Ren

(he/him) Queer, Gay, Cisgender · Chinese

Yi Ren is a comedian new to the scene, offering his hilarious—but mostly wrong—perspective on life in America as a gay Chinese immigrant. Taking inspiration from Shen Yun, he dreams of one day becoming the other Chinese cultural phenomenon that disappoints millions.

Rea Kapur

(she) Gay, Lesbian · South Asian

Rea Kapur (she/her) is a Bay Area based comedian, almost professional filmmaker, and devout lesbian. She’s performed all over the Bay, hosting and featuring for the likes of Mark Smalls, Deanne Smith, Tommy Tiernan, Pinky Patel, and the patron saint of mental health comedy, Maria Bamford. She loves MILFS, movies, and amassing new followers on Instagram. Make her dream come true by giving her a follow @reakapur!
