Activate McCoppin: Month-Long Block Party | SF

During the month of November 2013, Activate McCoppin is temporarily transforming the McCoppin Hub, at the intersection of Valencia and McCoppin Streets from a parking lot into a community hub.

McCoppin Hub is hosting a variety of events and art installations in an effort to offer opportunities for communities to come together, connect, share, collaborate, and have fun. This project will help determine what programming works in the McCoppin Hub prior to the improvement project slated to begin in 2014.

Want to host your own event? Come teach a class on basket weaving, play some bluegrass, or host a panel discussion. The possibilities are endless.

Final Day | Activate McCoppin: Month-Long Block Party | SF

Join Activate McCoppin Hub for a farewell bash with a giant paint fest and concert for their final day; the space is being rebuilt in 2014.

2-4 pm: Giant Paint Fest
Come help paint an oversized canvas (52″ x 31″) with artist Patricia Adler. Everyone is welcome, at any age and skill level. They’ll provide the canvas, paints, and brushes, you provide your creativity.

2-5 pm: Concert
A steaming bowl of Delta and Chicago blues, a dash of New Orleans, a taste of country, and a teaspoon of rock, all flavored with a unique songwriting sensibility, create the tasty gumbo that is Blind Lemon Pledge and The DustUps.
This San Francisco-based quartet, featuring bluesy vocals, guitars, bottleneck slide, harmonica, bass, and cajon/percussion plays a combination of blues classics, re-imagined rock/pop standards and sparkling originals.
