Take a trip back to the 1930s just by heading to SoMa and visiting the California Historical Society’s A Wild Flight of the Imagination: the Story of the Golden Gate Bridge – a brand new historical exhibit honoring the bridge’s 75th anniversary.

Experience the story of the Bridge through an ambitious exhibition featuring rarely seen works of art, personal letters, photographs, and many artifacts that have never been shown to the public before.

Exhibit Details:
A Wild Flight of the Imagination: the Story of the Golden Gate 
February 26 – October 14, 2012
Open Tuesdays to Sundays, Noon to 5pm
– California Historical Society, 678 Mission Street, SF (SoMa)
– FREE ($5 suggested donation)

Exhibit highlights include works of art from Ansel Adams, architectural drawings showing original concepts and designs of the bridgethat were never used, original tools, hard hats, telegrams and more.  Plus the outside of the building has been painted in International Orange, the exact same paint and color that Sherman Williams’ uses on the Golden Gate Bridge.
