You’ll learn what you can plant now and what you can do to use our often neglected “Secret Season,” in January to March, to produce delicious harvests long before summer crops are ready. Learn the best crops and varieties for winter, unusual but delicious crops to try, pest management tips, and more.

Pam Peirce is a San Francisco-based gardener, author, photographer, and lecturer. Her classic regional gardening book, Golden Gate Gardening, is in its third edition, which includes planting calendars covering microclimates from the foggy coast to inland as far as Walnut Creek or San Jose. Pam taught horticulture at City College of San Francisco for nearly 30 years and her garden column appears monthly in the San Francisco Chronicle Sunday Food & Wine Section. She blogs at
