Event Details

In May of 1856, the election to organize the new San Mateo County took place. The San Mateo County History Museum invites families to celebrate the County’s birthday on Saturday, May 7 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. The theme for this year’s party is the 1950s. Craft activities from the era will be part of the fun.
-Enjoy a birthday cupcake (while supplies last).
-Attendees will receive a copy of the new children’s activity book, “Discover San Mateo County in the 1950s.” It will include coloring sheets, mazes, crosswords and wordfinders exploring what was new and popular in the 1950s.
Admission will be FREE on May 7. This event is sponsored by the Redwood City Arts Commission and the Port of Redwood City.
Not able to come to the museum? FREE material kits are available for the first 100 registrations. There is a limit of 3 material kits per family. The kits will be available for pickup at the History Museum. To sign up for a materials kit, visit https://historysmc.org/happy-san-mateo-county-day.
