The Diversity Studies Program at California College of the Art presents Home: Making Space for Radical Love and Struggle, its first ever faculty exhibition, from April 9-20, 2018 at the Oliver Art Center, Oakland campus. View the exhibit Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm.

This show will feature new work exploring the theme of “Home” and its myriad resonances in relation to academia, community, family, identity and nation, and will also incorporate teach-ins, lectures, live music and poetry readings.

The Diversity Studies program has existed in different forms at CCA since 1970, informing students about the contributions of historically underrepresented, indigenous, immigrant, and forced migratory communities to American arts, history, culture, and society. In both studio and seminar classes the program highlights both the interrelations between global/diasporic communities as well as the impact of race/ethnicity, gender and sexuality on art making and design practices.

Diversity Studies faculty included in the exhibition include: Doug Akagi, Claudia Bernardi, Sita Bhaumik, Lydia Nakashima Degarrod, Melinda Luisa de Jesús, Trinidad Escobar, Amana Harris, Taraneh Hemami, Guillermo Galindo, Shylah Hamilton, Vreni Michelini-Castillo, Sean Nash, Eduardo Pineda, Mariella Poli, Juan Carlos Rodriguez Rivera, Pallavi Sharma, Brian Keith Thomas, Rickey Vincent, and Noga Wizansky.
