Illuminate SF Light Art Cable Car Tour | Dogpatch

This tour will begin in the offbeat, quaint and craft rich neighborhood of Dogpatch at Workshop Residence where you’ll hear from artist and architect Johanna Grawunder.

Free, but an RSVP is required.

Robin Marks of Discovery Street Tours will lead participants on a brief tour of Dogpatch via Classic Cable Car on the way to Bayview Rise by Haddad-Drugen. Participants get a rare chance to get up close and personal with a striking light installation in the Bayview.

Funded by the Port of San Francisco with coordination from the San Francisco Arts Commission, Bayview Rise has transformed a former grain elevator into a hi-rise mural that changes by night as it is illuminated in different colors. Join special guest David Beaupre from the Port of San Francisco to hear how this 187′ multi-dimensional mural reflects the historic and changing story of the Bayview neighborhood.

Participants will remain dry, but not so for Eric Staller’s, Bubbleboat. The 12’ diameter dome covered with 600 computerized red, white and blue bulbs will perform a light show from the water. This tour will be partly on foot and partly by cable car, but not in the water. Don’t forget to charge your batteries, cell phones and cameras; you’re going to want photos.
