Event Details

Watch and learn the craft of creating functional and usable items from green or “fresh” wood. You will learn safe axe and knife technique and efficient ways to turn logs into spoons, bowls, stools, and other items. Even in our urban environment, this craft is highly accessible and easy to learn. It also adds new meaning to sustainable craft, because our raw materials are being trimmed and cut down by cities who throw them into landfills.

We will be providing a special in store discount the day of the event at our Fjallraven San Francisco location.

Whether you’re a woodcrafter or a bushcrafter, the techniques learn will further your experience with nature and our urban area.
Bring your new axes and knives to try out safely! We will also have a hands-on activity to make a tent stake and butter knife. Please note this event will require you to sign a liability form before the start of the event.
Ian McNemar has been studying with green woodworking and traditional woodcraft for five years . He’s a member of the Bay Area Spoon Carvers. You can find BASC on facebook or on instagram (@bayareaspooncarvers). Follow Ian on instagram @wood_and_bark for woodcraft or lazy looks from his French bulldog, Frank.
