Irrelevant Press (est. 2014) began in Oakland, California, and has grown its communities in both the Bay Area and Brooklyn, New York. Irrelevant Press is a printer/publisher, zine collective and internet shop, whose collaboration focuses on the personal, political, and pop culture. Their newest publication, “Relevant Poetry” (2022) features new writing from over 40 emerging and established poets around the world.

We dream and work to create a world of tenderness, honesty, poetry, abolition, queerness, printing and sharing. Connecting through tangible works, zine fests and book fairs, Irrelevant Press and Friends presents a special community bond of artists and printmakers.
Irrelevant Press and Friends, a recollective, surveys the linkage with those we create with. In this exhibition, artists from the Bay Area and beyond explore an ethos of connectedness, belonging, and identity. “Friends” also represents an interpretation that betters the community and its locality.
This exhibition prioritizes our relationship with hardworking and imaginative people, acknowledging their right to be and belong. Conscious of this context, Irrelevant Press and Friends showcases forms of collaboration while focusing on cohesion among our varied communities.
