A docent from the Asian Art Museum’s Community Speaker Program, will deliver an educational and entertaining multimedia talk on Jade: Stone of Heaven with a brief introduction about the formation and classifications of jade, followed by an appreciation of select jade pieces (examples from 18th – early 20th century China) with a focus on the symbolic and auspicious meanings of jade pieces. With a visual presentation of jade pieces crafted over thousands of years, the program delves into some of the reasons this stone has been so prized. This program is made possible by the South San Francisco Friends of the Library.
