JAZZ + At The de Young | SF

JAZZ + is a series of five free Sunday afternoon concerts presented by the de Young Museum in collaboration with the San Francisco Friends of Chamber Music.

Exploring the tradition of Jazz in combination with other musical traditions, ranging from Latin to Caribbean to classical, this series celebrates the diversity of the Bay Area musical community in an intimate concert setting.

All performances are FREE and start at 2pm

The Dynamic Miss Faye Carol – vocals – Marco Casasola – piano – Geechi Taylor, drums – Howard Wiley, saxophone – Marcus Shelby, bass

Carol is one of the premiere vocalists of her time. Arranging jazz standards and other popular songs in her own way is nothing new to Carol, who began this decades ago, well before mixing genres such as hip-hop & jazz became so widely embraced. This Bay Area living legend remains true to her Mississippi roots infusing the blues into everything from Cole Porter to Michelle Legrand songs. She brings a powerhouse jazz quartet to serve as the foundation for her unique style and gift of connecting with the audience.
